22nd NBW Statement
Gathering in the island of Cebu, from the 5th to the 8th of February 2018, to celebrate the 22nd National Bible Workshop with the theme, “Becoming Servant-Leaders of the Word in the Church Today”, we, the members of ECBA and its affiliates, including the Philippine Bible Society coming from the different ecclesiastical jurisdictions in the Philippines, relishing the birth of Evangelization in 1521 amidst the festive Sinulog in praise of the Sto. Niño, hosted by the St. Jerome Biblical Center, after evaluating our past activities and listening to the Word of God and Church Documents, have discerned to meet the challenges of the present by resolving to do the following:
A. Organizational: - To complete the Biblical Apostolate working staff from the regional structure down to the diocesan and parochial level: 30% in 2018, 60% in 2019, and 100% in 2020.
B. Formation - To continue providing the Basic Bible Seminar, Youth Bible Camps, Bibliodrama, retreats for the laity and the facilitators and animators.
C. Sustainability - To remind parishes of the Bible Sunday Collection - To encourage facilitators, animators and followers to make personal savings for the Biblical Apostolate every month.
We leave Cebu full of gratitude to the Lord and to the generous people who prayed and provided for our needs. Inspired by the first missionaries who sailed the seas to bring the Gospel to our shores, and seeking the help of Mama Mary, the Mother of Evangelization, we travel home with zeal and fervor to carry out the objectives of the Biblical Apostolate, to live, pray, and spread the Word of God.
