The Episcopal Commission for the Biblical Apostolate (ECBA) is a pastoral commission of the Catholic Bishops' Conference of the Philippines (CBCP) whose area of competence and service is the biblical-pastoral ministry in its five-fold ministries of:

We commit ourselves
to a new Evangelization
based on the Word of God
proclaimed, accepted, celebrated
and meditated upon in the Church.
We will live and proclaim the Word
as Good News to the poor,
let the Bible inspire all our pastoral work,
and be guided by the teachings
of Dei Verbum and Verbum Domini,
and by the vision of the
Second Plenary Council of the Philippines.

A Community of Disciples

RE: Invitation for alternative New Evangelization Methods

To all Bible Apostolate Regional Directors, Diocesan Directors, Lay Coordinators, Teachers, Catechists, Church Leaders, interested individuals and groups,

Greetings on this day, celebrating the memorial of St. Augustine of Hippo!
Today’s first reading from 2 Thess 2:2-3 reads: 2 please do not be too easily thrown into confusion or alarmed by any manifestation of the Spirit or any statement or any letter claiming to come from us, suggesting that the Day of the Lord has already arrived. 3 Never let anyone deceive you in any way. It cannot happen until the Great Revolt has taken place and there has appeared the wicked One, the lost One…

In our time of fake news resulting to confusion and false hopes, we in the Bible Apostolate would like to help one another and our people with more solid formation and deeper reflections on the Word of God which transformed St. Augustine to be one of our great saints in the Church. Hence, our passion to offer programs (before the second coming) which will hopefully challenge us to be critical in the Jesus way.

As we celebrate the 40th year of ECBA, we are offering three sessions on biblianilay, sayawlangin, sayawnilay, lectio divina, B-FAST as alternative ways of reflecting, teaching and celebrating the Word of God. This is our contribution to the New Evangelization being espoused by Pope Francis and his predecessors. Because of the intensity and nature of these sessions, we are limiting the number of participants to 30 (maximum) only. The dates will be November 9, 10, 11 (2018). For interested participants coming from Luzon, the session will be in Tagaytay, for the Visayas, it will be in Lapulapu City and for Mindanao, it will be in Davao City. These sessions will be simultaneously given by 6 facilitators (2 for each venue). We are still negotiating with exact venues which will be forwarded to you as soon as matters are settled. The subsidized registration fee per person is P3,000.00 inclusive of board and lodging, meals and merienda. Please bring your toiletries and medicines. A malong will be helpful for the sessions, pen and paper, personal Bible. The session will start after merienda of November 9 (10:30 a.m.) and will end after lunch of November 11. There will be evening sessions but not later than 9 p.m. Cellphones will not be allowed during the sessions and rules in the venues will strictly be followed as part of the formation of the participants. Facilitators will come from the ECBA pool of formation volunteers who have undergone training and formation.

This is open to all interested participants. This is on a first come, first served basis. As soon as the slots are full, we will declare it closed. Please submit the names of your participants to Ms. Luningning Llarenas via email > ecbacbcp@yahoo.com.ph or via pm to Ate Nati Pagadut. Pay to Metrobank-CBCP Intramuros (CBCP-ECBA) 632-7-6320 2412-2 and send a photocopy of your payment slip to our treasurer Ms. Remy Alberto via pm. All payments are non refundable but transferable. All paid participants are assured of a slot until we declare it closed. Receipts will be issued to payees in the venue upon arrival. For more queries and clarifications, please call us and look for Remy or Ning (02-527-41-57).

We pray that our plans coincide with that of God. “The plan God makes are wise, and they always succeed (Isa. 28:29b).

More blessings,

Dr. Natividad B. Pagadut
(ECBA Executive Secretary)
