RE: Regional, Diocesan, Parish Reports and other Matters
Dear Bible Apostolate Regional Directors, Diocesan Coordinators,
Consultors and Affiliates,
Happy Feast of our Lady of the Holy Rosary, Mary our Model of Discipleship !
We are blessed in this Year of the Laity with many seminars, reflections, activities and plans in relation to discipleship, Verbum Domini, the new evangelization and Evangelii Gaudium (Joy of the Gospel). We thank the Lord for this concerted effort of bringing the Word, intensifying people’s love for Scripture and deepening our own formation of listening and doing what is expected of us as Bible Apostolate leaders in our respective settings.
As a commission on the Bible Apostolate by the Catholic Bishops’ Conference of the Philippines (CBCP), we are expected to present a report to our bishops during their plenary assembly to keep them abreast with what is going on in the biblical apostolate. This year’s report is expected to be in the CBCP secretariat by November 2014 instead of December (2014) or January (2015) because the said months will be focused on preparations for the coming of the pope. Hence, please submit your reports before November 20, 2014.
We are also pursuing the statement of commitment which we formulated in our latest National Bible Workshop (NBW) in Palawan. We had our lay Bible coordinators formation workshop at the Saint Joseph retreat House on July 31- Aug 2, 2014. We hope that this has been replicated on the diocesan and parish levels by the attendees. We also conducted our Bibliodrama exchange workshop with observers which happily ended with an evaluation of what has been and a positive looking forward to what will be for bibliodrama in the Philippines. Kindly include bibliodrama experiences in your reports for the information of our bishops in the CBCP.
Our Bible Director for the archdiocese of Manila, Most Rev. Broderick S. Pabillo has been elected as the Chairman of the Federation of Asian Bishops Conference (FABC), Office of Evangelization. He and his team will hold a seminar-workshop on Evangelii Gaudium (Joy of the Gospel) at the San Carlos Seminary on November 15, 2014. This seminar-workshop is endorsed by Most Rev. Socrates Villegas, archbishop of Lingayen-Dagupan and President of the Catholic Bishops Conference of the Philippines. (Please refer to our website for his endorsement letter). You are definitely welcome to attend this event or send your representatives who can echo it to your respective dioceses and parishes.
Please take note too that our next executive committee meeting will be on December 3, 2014 at the new conference hall of the CBCP (ground floor near the former office for Catechesis). Please confirm your attendance via landline, email or text message.
For our ECBA Chairman Bp. Pablo Virgilio S. David.
Dr.Natividad B. Pagadut
The Episcopal Commission for the Biblical Apostolate (ECBA) is a pastoral commission of the Catholic Bishops' Conference of the Philippines (CBCP) whose area of competence and service is the biblical-pastoral ministry in its five-fold ministries of:
Animating Biblical-Pastoral Formation (ABPF),
Organizing Bible Celebration (OBC),
Promoting Bible Translation (PBT),
Assisting Bible Production (ABP),
Coordinating Bible Distribution (CBD).
A Community of Disciples
nourished by the Word of God,
Witnessing to the Gospel,
and Striving to be a Church
that is poor and for the poor,
with Mary, Mother of the Word, as model.
We commit ourselves to a renewed evangelization through the
implementation of Vatican II’s Constitution on Divine Revelation (Dei Verbum)
and the Plenary Council of the Philippines’ (PCP II) vision of a Church of
the Poor in our reading, studying,
praying, living, sharing and celebrating the Word of God in response to Verbum Domini's call to “animate every
pastoral activity in the Church with the Word of God”. (VD 73) .
