Message of the National Pastoral Consultation On Church Renewal
In 1991 the Church in the Philippines sought to receive God's gift ofrenewal in the event of the Second Plenary Council of the Philippines. TheCouncil confronted the shadows of Philippine society, as well as the failuresand sins of the Church. Hearing God's call in these realities, it boldlychallenged the Church in the Philippines to be a Community ofDisciples, a Church of the Poor, committed to themission of renewed integral evangelization, toward thebuilding up of a new civilization of life and love in thisland. Ten years later, from January 22 to 27, 2001, we, representatives of thevicariates, prelatures, dioceses and archdioceses of the Philippines gatheredat the San Carlos Pastoral Formation Complex, Makati City for the NationalPastoral Consultation on Church Renewal (NPCCR).* We reflected on how farwe as a Church have fulfilled the grand vision and mission proposed by PCP-IIand the National Pastoral Plan. We looked at the past, we confronted thepresent, we discerned where the Spirit is leading us on this pilgrimage ofrenewal. Through this message, we want to share with you, sisters and brothersin the faith, the important concerns raised in the consultation
