Change in the General Secretariat - Dr. Thomas P. Osborne is the new interim director

After ten years in the office of CBF(Catholic Biblical Federation) General Secretary (GS) Alexander M. Schweitzer on 1 April 2011 joins the United Bible Societies. In his letter of thanks the CBF President emphasises Schweitzer’s precious services for the Federation and underlines that this step will further strengthen the interconfessional engagement and the collaboration between CBF and UBS. Tom Osborne, professor of biblical studies in Luxembourg, has been involved with the CBF since 1991 in various responsibilities (coordinator of the Southern and Western European Subregion 1996-2002, collaborator in the organization of the plenary assemblies 2002 and 2008, etc.). His primary responsibilities in the General Secretariat now have to do with the concrete organization of the upcoming extraordinary plenary assembly.Osborne did is doctorate in theology at the Catholic University of Louvain (Louvain-la-Neuve) and is professor of biblical studies in Luxemburg’s Seminary and Catechetical Institute since 1984.
